IABC NSW looks forward to the future

I hope you all had a nice holiday period with family and friends. 2019 promises to be a great year for the NSW chapter, its members and the communication community.

We finished 2018 in a really strong position both financially and in our membership. Our total income increase by 12%, with events being the main driver of revenue. It was great to see 240 people attend six events throughout the year.

We increased membership by 7% taking total growth to 30% in the last three years.

There have been a number of changes to our board. While it was sad to see a few of our long standing board members leave, having fresh faces brings new energy and ideas.

Welcome to our new board members

  • Megan Thomas – Secretary (FS Risk & Transformation Communication Lead CBA)

  • Sach Trikha – Digital Communication (Manager – Communication & Digital Engagement, News Limited)

  • Caitlin Stonehouse – Professional Development (Senior Communications and Content Manager, Digivizer)

  • Marisa BIshop – Student Representative (Studying a Masters of Communication Manager at UTS)

Also welcoming back after a year of maternity leave:

What can you look forward to this year?

Earlier this year, the board came together to work on our three year vision for the chapter and key priorities for this year. A few of the outputs included:

  • Providing more membership value: This year we’re focused on increasing the value of the association for our members. This includes more member only events, better pricing and new types of events that will allow you to connect and learn from industry experts.

  • Increasing accessibility and flexibility: We believe no matter where you are or your situation all our members should have access to content. That’s why this year we will provide more content via our digital channels, so if you can’t make an event you don’t miss out.

  • Bringing more communicators together: One of the many benefits of IABC membership is the opportunity to build networks. I’m looking forward working with our major sponsor Salt and Shein to launch the ‘Communication Round Table’. This will be a member’s only event where a group of Senior Communicators come together under Chatham House Rules to discuss the industries hot topics. It’s all about helping each another solve our biggest challenges.
