Membership month is our favourite time of year. This year we pulled out all the stops to help us all stay connected. This year we made a series of announcements and offers for existing and new members. Here’s an overview of the ten announcements we made during the month.

1. Official launch of our new website.

An ambition of the board this year was to deliver you a new, more intuitive, clearer and user-friendly website. Started by Sach Trikha and developed with the incredible support of IABC NSW member Andrew Blunt - we celebrated our new and improved website. We’re always on the hunt for great content so if you have a story, article or opinion piece you want to develop and showcase to our community please reach out to one of the board.

2. Enter a Gold Quill.

A call out to our incredible NSW communication colleagues to enter a Gold Quill for your outstanding work to mark moments of excellence and purpose. Here are the dates to remember: Submission opens on 8 October 2020. You can enjoy the early bird discounted rate, extended up to 8 January 2021. The deadline is on 20 January 2021 and the late deadline will be on 1 February 2021. Read more here: https://gq.iabc.com/

3. Gold Quill show and tell tips for success.

We hope members will get inspired to submit great work in the 2021 entries. https://lnkd.in/gNTv8SE. A Gold Quill award is a credibility boost like no other. It's acknowledged as one of the most prestigious awards programs globally in the industry for strategic communications. Submissions now open.

4. Open call for board nominations and AGM date announced.

We’re looking for dedicated people able and willing to commit time to running the Chapter, helping us to elevate the credibility of our profession and support our community of business communication professionals with innovative thinking, shared best practices, in-depth learning and career guidance. Find out about the nominations and AGM here: https://lnkd.in/eGNycui

5. October EDM live.

We looked at how we’ve listened to member feedback, showcased the incredible discounts available for member month, highlighted our open call for board nominations, gave an update on Gold Quills and picked out our communication roundtable as our pick of the month. Make sure you are subscribed to our newsletter.

6. Net promoter score announcement.

We are pleased to say that over the last year we’ve increased our NPS by 40 percentage points. https://lnkd.in/gXqVTpu. We had a target to increase by 10 percentage points so we’re delighted that the membership feels so passionately about the community and we can build on this momentum together.

7. A sneak peek on how 2021 is shaping up.

Our sincere thanks to all the speakers who put forward topics, to Lucy Newcomb, Fraser Clapcott and Salt & Shein for all their ongoing support, to all the members who offered their feedback and to our board for all their tireless work in elevating our local chapter and supporting the vision to advance the profession, create connection and develop the credibility and recognition of our community. 9. A huge THANK YOU and warm welcome.

To the 50+ new and existing members who’ve committed to renew or join #IABCNSW for another exceptional year.

10. Another huge THANK YOU.

To our incredible speakers Amanda Wallace, Adrian Christie and Rhys Kelly and #IABCNSW guests who participated in our unique virtual communication roundtable ‘learn from the best in the business’.

The energy and interaction in the virtual environment was infectious.

Thank you all for openly sharing your invaluable stories and insights. We heard about why internal communications is more important than ever to inform a workforce, how a NFP pivoted their messaging and programs during COVID-19 to stay relevant and top of mind and how purpose and business strategy was aligned with social issues. A charity donation instead of speaker gifts was made to the charities of their choosing.

The board of directors and I have been overwhelmed with the support you have shown us and the local chapter during membership month. We look forward to ensuring existing and new members have an exceptional year with us.
