NEWS RELEASE: IABC NSW announces new President

15 December, 2021

Sydney, Australia – Following its Annual General Meeting, the NSW Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators announces Megan Thomas as its new President.

Megan joined the IABC Board in 2019 and is a long-standing IABC member.  She most recently held the position of co-Vice President and Secretary. She is a seasoned communications professional, and holds accreditation with the IABC, one of the first in NSW to successfully complete the Strategic Communications Management Professional program (SCMP) in 2020.

Megan said, “It is an honour to serve as NSW Chapter President at a time when the value of professional communicators continues to lift. We are seeing increased interest from communicators to invest in their careers, learn from their peers, and to be recognised through our industry-leading qualifications and our world-renowned global awards program.”

The IABC NSW Chapter won four Chapter Awards in 2021, achieving IABC Medium Chapter of the Year, Chapter Leader of the Year for outgoing President Kieran McCann, as well as awards for Chapter Innovation and Membership Marketing.

This followed one of its most successful years on record, with strong membership growth, highly rated events, the launch of Mastermind Circles to enable members to network with small peer groups and nine Gold Quill awards to teams across NSW. The Chapter also received ongoing support from Salt and Shein.

The 2022 Board also welcomes Anthea Cudworth as Vice President and Treasurer, along with four new Directors – Jennifer Black, Cat Dundas, Chris Saxby and Luke Morgan.

Kieran McCann, who assumes the role of past Chair, thanked all Board members for their significant contributions in a challenging year for the profession.

“Megan will be a fantastic President, bringing wisdom, positivity and a passion for the profession. Our members will continue to benefit from the unity in community of our association in 2022.”
