Introducing Our New 2024 Board Members
At the Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, we elected eight new Board members onto the Chapter. As part of our Board governance, we run a thorough selection and nomination process to bring on new Directors. Candidates are assessed against criteria including alignment to IABC values, their experience and potential contribution, capacity, role fit and diversity of the board.
The number and calibre of people who put their names forward to volunteer was impressive. It means making an intentional choice to contribute time and energy to activities and causes that make a difference and add value to the world.
The eight new Directors bring a diverse mix of experience and skills, and provide valuable representation of key groups within our membership. Many have been active contributors to the IABC already.
A very big welcome to…
Patrick Armstrong – Director, Student Education and Early Careers
Welcome back to Pat who rejoins the Board in a new role. He is a massive champion of the IABC and we’re delighted that he’s rejoining in a brand new role focused on encouraging our student and new professionals to participate in the Association.
Aleks Gorgievski – Director, Digital experience and Innovation
Aleks’s extensive internal communications experience has enabled him to work on many emerging digital tools and platforms. Aleks will help us to capitalise on the opportunities for the IABC to become more efficient, data driven and at the cutting edge of the latest technologies.
Jeremy Hyman – Director of Brand and Strategic Relationships
Jez brings extensive board and governance experience and holds a senior position in the communications industry, which will be invaluable as we lift our profile and build our membership base.
Lana Boardman – Director, Member Experience
Lana is a deeply experienced communicator and volunteer who is familiar with the IABC as a member and past Gold Quill evaluator, and who is keen to help us evaluate and improve the experience of our members.
Lucy Hose – Director of Professional Development
We always find enormous value from having government communicators on our Board, and Lucy brings great knowledge about the public sector, and the value of maintaining a contemporary knowledge of the profession.
Paula Batho - Director of Comms & Marketing
After her enterprising efforts to kickstart , with fellow IABC NSW member Anne Molloy, a gathering of IABC NSW members in the Hunter & Coastal region, Paula has now become a Board member, contributing her considerable communication and engagement experience to the broader Chapter, while continuing to support the regional hub. It’s really important that we remember our IABC NSW members aren’t all located in Sydney.
Jaci Burns – Director of Comms & Marketing
Jaci is highly experienced in comms and marketing and runs her own consultancy She has considerable volunteer experience and is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors' diploma in company directorships. As it is such an important and busy space, Jaci and Paula will both have the Comms and Marketing portfolio.
Sue Woodward – Director (Generalist)
Sue has extensive experience in the sector, bringing valuable marketing nous, previous board experience, and deep knowledge of board governance. Sue will be in a generalist Director role, and focus her effort where it’s most needed.
The eight new Board members will join five continuing Board members:
